Benefits of Telehealth Services
Now, more than ever before, people are learning of the benefits of telemedicine. Traditionally, when patients had a medical issue or concern, they’d call their primary care provider or local health clinic, schedule an appointment, and then travel to the office or clinic to receive care. With improvements in video technology and security, doctors are now able to treat their patients virtually.
AMG Telehealth allows you to video chat with your doctor face-to-face. Even though you aren’t in the same office, your doctor can see you and observe any symptoms firsthand, thus allowing for a more accurate diagnosis. Telehealth services are especially helpful if you need to discuss a condition with your doctor but don’t need a physical exam. Your doctor can review your health information, discuss your diagnosis and treatment options, and answer any questions you may have.
During your visits, all data is encrypted, your sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored. We adhere to HIPAA privacy requirements.

Insurance Coverage
Most commercial insurance plans cover virtual visits just as they would an in-office visit with your doctor, but speak with your insurer to confirm. In advance of the visit, you will receive an email to check in through a secure online platform. As with any office visit, we will collect the normal copay amount during the check-in process. After your virtual visit, we will submit a claim to your insurance carrier for full payment. If the service is not covered by your insurance, we will work with you to set up an affordable payment plan.
Telehealth Visit Prep Tips
Consider the following tips to be better prepared for your telehealth visit:
- Lighting. Choose a well-lit room so that your doctor can see you clearly.
- Sound. Make sure you turn off any TVs or music players so that you and your doctor can hear one another clearly.
- Video settings. Test your webcam out with a friendly call to a friend or relative to ensure that your webcam and microphone are working as intended.
- Connection strength. If you can use a wired internet connection, you’ll have the best connection. If you’re using WiFi, choose a location for your appointment that’s near your router and away from microwaves or other sources of interference.
AMG Telehealth visits are scheduled through your provider’s office. When you schedule one, you will receive an email with instructions for what to do at your appointment time.

Visit Troubleshooting
I am having trouble seeing or hearing my provider
Remember to use a device with a webcam, microphone and strong internet connection, such as a laptop, mobile phone or tablet. For the optimal experience, use the Google Chrome web browser on your laptop or desktop computer.
If prompted by your device, be sure to 'allow' the technology access to your webcam and microphone.
The video quality is poor or connection is dropping
Poor video quality is usually caused by a slow internet connection. You will need an absolute minimum internet connection of 20 mbps to do a virtual doctor’s visit.
I never received a message for my visit
We will send a message to the email account you have on file with our office. Be sure to complete the check in steps as prompted by the email. If you cannot locate your email contact our office and we will be able to send you another virtual visit link.
I am unable to join my virtual visit
Once we are ready to see you the "Join Visit" button will become active and you will hear a chime. You can then click on the button and connect through the virtual visit platform. As health care providers we try our best to stay on time but in some cases we do run late. We appreciate your patience and will try to see you as soon as possible.
