What Is Hospice?
Hospice care is a compassionate, patient-centered approach to medical care and support for people who are at the end of life. Hospice care services focus on improving the quality of life for people when their quantity of time is limited. Hospice of Southwest Georgia offers comprehensive hospice services for patients in a home-like setting, as well as emotional and spiritual support for the patients and for those who love and care for them.

Where Are Hospice Services Provided?
Hospice of Southwest Georgia provides services to patients in their own homes, contracted nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
If a patient needs pain or symptom management that cannot feasibly provide in another care setting, they may qualify for short-term General Inpatient Services. This level of care is determined and approved by the Hospice Medical Director and the Interdisciplinary Team. Hospice of Southwest Georgia offers inpatient hospice services in our new John B. and Elizabeth V. Wight Inpatient Hospice Center located inside Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.
Who Provides Hospice Care?
We offer a team approach to hospice care. Our interdisciplinary Hospice of Southwest Georgia team is comprised of licensed professionals who address the medical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient and loved ones.
Your hospice team could include any combination of the following professionals:

How Long Will My Loved One Receive Hospice Care?
Traditionally, hospice is an option for people whose life expectancy is six months or less and focuses on pain and symptom relief rather than curative measures.
Can Anyone Have Access to Hospice Care?
Yes, no one is refused hospice services on the basis of race, religion, age, sex, ethnic background, handicap condition, or financial resources. Anyone may refer a patient to hospice, including a family member or loved one, however, a physician's order is required to admit a patient.
Is Hospice Care Covered by Insurance?
