Yes, no one is refused hospice services on the basis of race, religion, age, sex, ethnic background, handicap condition, or financial resources. As long as a patient is in need of end-of-life services, anyone may refer a patient to hospice, including a family member or loved one. However, a physician's order is required to admit a patient into hospice care.
Hospice offers services based on need, rather than the ability to pay. Payment for services is accepted from commercial insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and on a private pay basis.
