Visitor Policy

Effective Wednesday, August 14, 2024

At Archbold, the safety and comfort of our patients are our highest priorities. Our visitor policy is designed to ensure a healing environment while accommodating the needs of family and loved ones.

Patients within the Archbold health system have the right to receive visitors whom he or she designates. We do not restrict or deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. It is our desire that all visitors enjoy full and equal visitation privileges consistent with patient preferences.

Our general inpatient visiting hours are 7:30am-8:30pm. Visitation times may vary based on individual patient conditions.

A new check-in process has been adopted at Archbold Memorial to better protect Archbold's patients, visitors, and staff. All visitors over the age of 18 will be asked to provide a driver's license or other government-issued ID. A badge will be issued to the visitor and should be worn at all times while on hospital grounds. Visitors under the age of 18 who do not have a valid ID will be given a duplicate badge of the accompanying adult. We thank you for your cooperation with these increased safety measures.

Children accompanying an adult visitor should not be left unattended at any time.

There are no limitations on the number of visitors, with some exceptions which are listed below.

Exceptions:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) & Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) patients may have two visitors at a time on a rotating basis. Children 12 and under are restricted but may be allowed under extenuating circumstances.
  • Labor & Delivery may have 3 designated visitors
  • Mother/Baby may have 4 visitors (siblings of the newborn are included in the 4-visitor count)
  • Archbold Northside: Visitation is allowed on a case-by-case basis
  • Emergency Department patients may have 1 visitor at the bedside and 1 visitor in the lobby unless there are extenuating circumstances. Both parents may accompany a pediatric patient.
  • The nurse in charge may alter visitation based on justified visitation restrictions. This includes, but is not limited to, a change in isolation status, end-of-life circumstances, or other needs of the patient.
  • Visitors and/or children accompanying an adult visitor exhibiting disruptive behavior may be asked to leave the hospital
  • Visitors with respiratory illnesses and signs of contagious infection and/or exposure should not visit for the safety of our patients and staff
  • Patients can withdraw or deny visitation at any time

Visitor policies at Archbold system hospitals and long-term care facilities may vary.

No Patient Left Alone Act
