Nurse Extern Program

Archbold also has several programs for nursing students and new graduate nurses. The Nurse Extern Program is for current nursing students who have completed their first semester of nursing school if in an ADN program, or in their senior year if in a BSN program. Nurse Externs are required to work 24 hours or 2 shifts a pay period and are actively engaged with an assigned preceptor to provide patient care. They rotate through different areas for the first six months of the program and are then assigned to the unit of their choice for the last six months.

Nurse Residency Pathway

The Archbold Nurse Residency Pathway is a one-year program designed to help new graduate nurses transition into clinical practice. It includes 12 weeks of intensive sessions, followed by ongoing monthly sessions, and is designed to support new graduates through their entire first year. The program helps foster a sense of community among new graduate nurses and provides confidence and knowledge in areas such:

  • Clinical skill
  • Leadership
  • Patient outcomes
  • Nursing sensitive indicators
  • Professional role

ARCH Program

The ARCH Program (Achievement, Rewards, Caring and Healing) is a voluntary program for full-time nurses within the Archbold system. It represents Archbold’s commitment to nursing excellence and professional practice development supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values. The purpose of the ARCH Program is to promote professional growth and development, reward achievement and hard work, contribute to the recruitment and retention of licensed nurses, and create a culture promoting patient safety and quality outcomes.

The ARCH performance period is October 1 through September 30. The monetary incentive is based on the amount of points accrued throughout the performance period.
