Morrison Healthcare, a Compass One Healthcare Company and nutrition services provider at Archbold Memorial Hospital, recently donated nearly $2,200 to the Thomas County Food Bank amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We wanted to make sure our family, friends, and neighbors in the community have food to put on their table if they have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Ashlund Edwards, Associate Director of Dining Services for Morrison Healthcare at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
“The donation from Morrison Healthcare means a great deal because we couldn’t function without donations from the community,” said Janice Anderson, Thomas County Food Bank President. “We are having more families show up during the pandemic because children are spending more time at home and people are out of jobs, so the donation is especially helpful during these times.”
The donation was made possible by efforts from the Morrison Healthcare team raising funds through t-shirt sales to Archbold staff and the community, a GoFundMe fundraiser, and donations from Archbold employees. Ninety percent of all the proceeds were donated to the Thomas County Food Bank for the purchasing of food.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for food bank services has drastically increased across the nation,” said Toni Hinz, Morrison Healthcare Retail Manager. “Here in Thomas County, support is more critical than ever.”
The donation was also coordinated by Leslie McDowell, Patient Service Manager; Josh Steinmetz, Executive Chef; Melissa Brinson, Office Manager; Kelsey Shackelford, Clinical Nutrition Manager; and Sean Austin, Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
