Better Breathers Celebrate First Year
Tuesday, May 29, 2012
This month, the Thomasville Better Breathers Club, a partnership between Archbold and the American Lung Association in Georgia, will celebrate its inaugural year of assisting those coping with lung disease.
The club meets to help patients living with lung disease—such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, Chronic O (COPD) or pulmonary fibrosis lung cancer—learn ways to better cope while getting the support of others who share in their struggles.
Club meetings provide peer support, information and education in an informal, social setting. Group discussions often incorporate new breathing techniques, learning about proper nutrition and exercise tips.
“Each month we receive new knowledge on problem solving and on making each day a better day,” said Jim and Annette Joiner, members of the Better Breathers Club.
Better Breathers welcomes new members the last Wednesday of each month at Archbold Memorial Hospital’s Williams Auditorium. There is no cost to attend or join.
“It’s a place where those of us in need of better breathing come together to share invaluable information,” said Nancy Ungaro, member of the Better Breathers Club. “Anybody with respiratory problems should consider joining our group.”
