Announcing Thomasville Better Breathers Club

According to the American Lung Association over 35 million adults nationwide have chronic lung disease such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, or pulmonary fibrosis lung cancer.

Lung disease may be managed with medications and other treatment, but learning to live with lung disease may be difficult.

Thomasville’s Better Breathers Club, a new partnership between Archbold Health Services and The American Lung Association in Georgia, will provide support, information, education and socialization to people with lung disease.

The club will hold its first meeting on June 29, 2011, at 10 am. The Club will meet for one hour at Archbold Memorial Hospital in the Williams Auditorium. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

“Members will learn skills that help manage their condition and improve their quality of life,” said Rick Dondero, disease management coordinator for Archbold Health Services. “Members will learn coping skills as well as exercise and breathing techniques.”

Dondero said that Archbold health professionals will advise members on nutrition and treatment options that are available to help patients live a more comfortable life.

Thomasville’s Better Breathers Club will hold regular meetings on the last Wednesday of each month in the Williams Auditorium.

There is no charge to join and attend.
