Archbold Increases Frequency of Oncology Services in Mitchell County

Thursday, August 25, 2011

The Archbold-Mitchell Specialty Clinic is proud to announce an increase in the frequency and types of oncology services offered. On August 12, Ayman Al-Hakim, M.D., of Archbold’s Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center began seeing patients at the Archbold-Mitchell Specialty Clinic every Friday.

“Archbold now offers oncology services such as clinic appointments, injections and chemotherapy infusion as a way to bring cancer care close to home,”says Al-Hakim. “By increasing our time at the clinic to every Friday, we will be able to treat more patients, at their convenience and in their hometown.”

Archbold’s comprehensive cancer program integrates radiation oncology, medical oncology and support services and provides a multispecialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options. Patients have broad access to state-of-the art services and equipment in Thomasville such as Mammosite, Gliosite, prostate seed implantation, combination chemoradiation, brachytherapy, the Trilogy linear accelerator and the Gamma Knife Center, the only noninvasive brain surgery technology of its kind in Georgia south of Augusta. In addition, physicians at the Singletary Oncology Center are known for the innovative treatment approaches—having recently received recognition as the first in Georgia, and second worldwide, to revolutionize surgical treatment for lung cancer implanting Cesium mesh brachytherapy with the daVinci Robot.

Al-Hakim is available to consult with patients in Mitchell County and will oversee all cancer treatment options.

In addition to oncology, the Archbold-Mitchell Specialty Clinic offers specialty healthcare services in the areas of audiology, cardiology, nephrology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, urology and general surgery.
