Archbold Hosts “Ask the Doctors” Panel

Friday, October 11, 2013

Typically, physician community lectures involve simply that—one physician educating members of the community on a particular topic of general interest.

Archbold Memorial Hospital is now changing that format to address breast cancer.

As part of Archbold’s continuing Health Talk free community lecture series, six Archbold physicians will host Breast Cancer: Ask the Doctors in the hospital’s Williams Auditorium on October 17.

The program will consist of a brief lecture on breast cancer, followed by a longer interactive segment where attendees can ask questions of the multi-specialty physician panel.  And yes, the program is intentionally modeled after the popular daytime television show, The Doctors.

The featured panel includes radiation oncologist Steven Johnson, MD; medical oncologist Amanda D. May, MD, general surgeon Gregory Patterson, MD; Obstetrician and Gynecologist Oscar Jackson, MD; radiologist Mary Anne Bullard, MD; and plastic surgeon Jason Buseman, MD.

“This is a very special opportunity to learn about breast cancer as well as the chance for unique insight—and answers—from a variety of medical perspectives from those who deal with cancer on a very frequent basis,” said Johnson.

“We’re excited to interact with our community in this way,” remarked May.  “There’s rarely an opportunity to answer several questions from several people all at once, not to mention the value of distinct input from different specialties.”

The lecture and interactive panel discussion is offered free as a clinical outreach effort to uphold Archbold’s core value of Community Benefit.

The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. and be held in the Williams Auditorium East Tower at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Dinner will be served. Pre-registration is requested; call 229-227-5140 or visit
