Archbold-Bainbridge Specialty Clinic Construction Progresses

Tuesday, May 11, 2013

Earlier this year, construction began on the new 8,500 square-foot Archbold-Bainbridge Specialty Clinic, a multispecialty medical building that will offer Decatur County patients greater access to modern treatment and technology.

“Archbold is very committed to Bainbridge and Decatur County,” said Beth Stein, vice president of Archbold Medical Group. “We’ve offered specialty healthcare services in Bainbridge for over 20 years, providing residents local access to Archbold’s highly skilled specialists in cardiology, nephrology, oncology and otolaryngology.”

The new clinic will provide convenient access to advanced technology and substantially more space for outpatient treatment, including ten patient exam rooms, four of which will be used for medical oncology.

“Although we gain a bit more space, one of the real stories is the patient-centered environment of healing that is gained with the new clinic,” said Bill Tustin, Archbold’s administrator of the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center. “The clinic’s design features comfortable and calming amenities for our patients. Privacy features allow patients to receive oncology treatment in one of the eight new oncology treatment bays, a relaxing area where patients have access to their own flat screen television and window, and additional space to allow friends or family members to be at their side during treatment.”

Tustin said that to accommodate the demand for specialty treatment in Bainbridge, Archbold will be increasing their oncology hours at the current clinic to four days a week beginning the week of June 10, with a plan to increase to five days a week when the new center opens.

“We are committed to providing services close to home and in the comfort and care of specially trained nurses in a state-of-the-art environment,” said Tustin. “Our new Archbold-Bainbridge Specialty Clinic will allow us to do that.”

“In addition to expanded oncology services, the new clinic will provide patients a much larger space for services currently offered in Bainbridge, but it will also allow for potential specialty growth in other areas,” said Stein.

David Smith, director of planning, design and construction for Archbold said, “Construction of the clinic is rapidly progressing from structural development to waterproofing and dry-in phases. Over the next month, installation of exterior sheathing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough in and installation of interior partitions will be completed.”

Smith said the project is on schedule for completion later this year.
