Childbirth Class

Come learn what to expect for childbirth and newborn care. Topics covered include: labor, delivery, comfort measures, epidural and pain medication, C-Section delivery, post-partum, newborn care, and breastfeeding. A tour of Archbold Maternity Center will be given. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. This is a free class held on Saturdays from 9am-3pm and is located in Williams Auditorium. Registration is required.

The dates for the 2019 classes are: January 12, March 9, April 13, June 8, August 10, September 14, November 9 and December 14.

Breastfeeding Basics Class

A prenatal class to learn the basics of breastfeeding, including the benefits of breastfeeding, milk composition, getting started breastfeeding, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, and more. Cost: $26 (billed to your insurance/Medicaid). Classes are from 6:00pm-8:00pm and are located in Auditorium A&B. Registration is required.

The dates for the 2019 classes are: January 8, February 12, April 9, May 7, July 9, September 10, October 22 and December 10.

Grandparent-To-Be Class

This class is especially for new grandparents or caregivers to come learn “what has changed,” and brush up on their infant care skills. Grandparents and caregivers will learn current hospital procedures, up to date feeding recommendations, safe sleep and SIDS prevention, swaddling, car seat safety, infant choking prevention and more! This is a free class that is offered from 6:00pm-7:30pm in Auditorium A&B. Registration is required.

“The Nurture Hour”: A Breastfeeding Support Group

A chance to meet with other mothers to share experiences, ask questions and learn about feeding and caring for your baby during the first year. The Lactation Coordinator will be available during the group to answer questions, and an infant scale will be available for weight checks. This is a free group that meets twice a month at the Thomas County Public Library Community Room (this group does not meet on holidays). No registration is required.

Every 2nd Monday of the month at 11:00am.

Lactation Consultation

Our lactation consultant is available for one-on-one lactation consultations to help mothers in all phases of their breastfeeding journey. Lactation consultations are available for help with latching, increasing supply, increasing weight gain, and helping mom prepare to return to work and school while breastfeeding and pumping.
