Childbirth Class

Come learn what to expect for childbirth and newborn care. Topics covered include: labor, delivery, comfort measures, epidural and pain medication, C-Section delivery, post-partum, newborn care, and breastfeeding. A tour of Archbold Maternity Center will be given. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. This is a free class held on Saturdays from 9am-3pm and is located in Williams Auditorium. Registration is required.

The dates for the classes are: February 10, March 10, May 12, June 9, August 11, September 8, November 10, and December 8.

Breastfeeding Basics Class

A prenatal class to learn the basics of breastfeeding, including the benefits of breastfeeding, milk composition, getting started breastfeeding, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, and more. Cost: $26 (billed to your insurance/Medicaid). Classes are from 6:00pm-8:00pm and are located in Auditorium A&B. Registration is required.

The dates for the classes are: January 16, February 13, April 10, May 8, July 17, September 11, October 16, and December 11.

Grandparent-To-Be Class

This class is especially for new grandparents or caregivers to come learn “what has changed,” and brush up on their infant care skills. Grandparents and caregivers will learn current hospital procedures, up to date feeding recommendations, safe sleep and SIDS prevention, swaddling, car seat safety, infant choking prevention and more! This is a free class that is offered from 6:00pm-7:30pm in Auditorieum A&B. Registration is required.

The dates for the classes are: March 13, June 12, August 14, and November 13.

“The Nurture Hour”: A Breastfeeding Support Group

A chance to meet with other mothers to share experiences, ask questions and learn about feeding and caring for your baby during the first year. The Lactation Coordinator will be available during the group to answer questions, and an infant scale will be available for weight checks. This is a free group that meets twice a month at the Thomas County Public Library Community Room (this group does not meet on holidays). No registration is required.

Every 2nd Monday of the month at 10:00am.
Every 4th Monday of the month at 6:00pm.

Pumping & Returning to Work Consultation

This one-on-one consultation prepares the mom to continue breastfeeding as she goes back to work or school. Topics covered include using a breast pump, milk storage, increasing milk supply, and tips for caregivers.
