As part of the lactation services program, Archbold added the following classes to the hospital’s list of childbirth education classes that are currently offered on a monthly basis:

Breastfeeding Basics Class

This class is intended for moms before delivery. Learn the basics of breastfeeding, including the benefits of breastfeeding, milk composition, getting started breastfeeding, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, and more. Cost: $26 (billed to your insurance/Medicaid). Check the online calendar for dates and location details.

Pumping and Returning to Work Class

This class prepares the mom to continue the breastfeeding as she goes back to work or school. Topics covered include using a breast pump, milk storage, increasing milk supply, and tips for caregivers. Breastfeeding Support Group

A chance to meet with other breastfeeding mothers to share experiences and ask questions. The Lactation Coordinator will be available during the support group to answer questions and an infant scale will be available for weight checks. This is a free group that meets from 9:30-11:00am at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Please check the online calendar for dates and location details. No registration is required.

Childbirth Education Classes

  • What to expect when you get to the hospital.
  • Tour of the facility to make you more comfortable with how to get to the Labor and Delivery department when the time comes.
  • This is not a Lamaze class, although we do teach some breathing techniques.
