Our three-year curriculum also includes direct patient care under the supervision of board-certified physicians. This includes the following:

  • Subspecialties
    • Subspecialty experiences are incorporated in each year of training to support resident education. Incorporated in PGY-2 and PGY-3, residents are given the flexibility to choose their subspecialty experiences.
  • Continuity Clinic
    • Residents are given the opportunity to establish relationships with patients they will see during their three years of training to meet ACGME Continuity Clinic requirements. Residents will see their continuity patients in the residency clinic a minimum of one half-day per week. Residents have the opportunity to manage complex patients and perform procedures common in the outpatient setting of internal medicine.

Our didactics and scholarly activity curriculum includes the following:

Morning report occurs 7:00am-8:00am Monday and Wednesday, and Noon Conference from 12:00pm-1:00pm each weekday. Our core lectures will cover topics pertinent to the foundation of internal medicine and prepare our residents for their boards and the practice of medicine. Core lectures are repeated annually to allow residents to review core topics and concepts multiple times throughout their three years of residency training. In addition to core lectures, didactic sessions include journal clubs, patient safety and case reviews, resident-led lectures, board review, review of certifications, and wellness topics and activities.

Our residents also participate in many different scholarly activity projects, including quality improvement projects. Residents work one-on-one with their advisor to plan out their future projects.
