Swing-Bed Services/Sub-Acute Care
Sub-acute care (also commonly referred to as swing-bed care), is a level of care defined as comprehensive inpatient care for someone who has an acute illness, injury, or exacerbation of a disease process.
Sub-acute care is provided on an inpatient basis for patients at Brooks County Hospital who need rehabilitation services that are more intensive than those typically received in a skilled nursing facility (nursing homes), but less intensive than what is required for a short-term acute care stay in the hospital.
Brooks County Hospital’s sub-acute program offers patients high-quality, inpatient rehabilitation services in a professional healthcare setting close to home.
