Archbold Announces New Chaplaincy Program

Archbold Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce it will be starting a new inpatient chaplaincy program for patients and their families later this fall.

The program will provide spiritual care resources to support patients and their spiritual and emotional well-being during a hospital stay.

“A hospital stay can be extremely taxing emotionally, physically and spiritually,” said Jason Bennett, MDiv, Director of Spiritual Care and Chaplain at Archbold Memorial Hospital. “This program will allow us to support patients and their families, so they can better cope with the challenges of a hospital stay.”

The program will offer spiritual care services that include: spiritual support as patients undergo treatment, provide education and religious rituals, provide mediation in response to moral distress and ethical dilemmas, and grief and bereavement care to families.

“At this time, we will offer our services Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm,” said Bennett. “However, our goal is to grow the program to where services are available 24/7.”

“The addition of this program will be such a blessing to our patients and their families,” said Darcy Craven, President and CEO of Archbold Medical Center. “Archbold is dedicated to providing all of the support resources our patients and their families need during uncertain times.”
