Stories from Doctor’s Day 2018

Two weeks after my 19th birthday I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, and to say I struggled with my diagnosis would be an understatement. Despite the fact that he wasn't my physician, Dr. Bilello took the time out of his busy day to invite me into his office to answer all of my questions about my disease. He bookmarked helpful pages, presented biopsy slides, and explained Crohn's Disease in a way that I could thoroughly understand. Dr. Bilello was the first doctor who I felt treated me as a person who was struggling with a diagnosis, instead of just another patient. Meeting with Dr. Bilello truly changed my outlook about my diagnosis, and eventually helped direct me towards a career path. I will never forget the kindness and generosity that Dr. Bilello displayed, and I will always remain thankful for his encouraging words.
