Stories from Doctor’s Day 2018
Dr. Russell is the most compassionate and caring physician. On October 5, 2017, he removed my husband’s brain tumor. The surgery was successful and the tumor is benign, however, my husband suffered repeated setbacks and complications. What was expected to be a week-long hospital stay turned into nine weeks, including one month in ICU and my husband entering into a nine day coma. Throughout this process Dr. Russell was there daily to check on, not only my husband but me. He never failed to fully explain what was going on and offer the best possible advice. He also was quick to provide a shoulder to lean on or a hug for encouragement. Dr. Russell always made sure to ask me if I was okay and if I was taking care of myself. If he wasn't satisfied with my answer he would ask the nurses. He often encouraged me to get outside and take a walk as I stayed daily with my husband and only left his side when absolutely necessary. He is continuing to see him for follow up care since discharge from the hospital in December. He has been a Godsend throughout this entire ordeal and I'm quite certain that we would have had a much more difficult time making it through without his kind caring nature as well as his medical expertise.
Dr. Russell always enters the office with a smile on his face and a greeting for the staff. He is always available if we have questions and is always willing to do whatever it takes to make our practice run as smooth as possible. He exits the office with the same smile and tells us he is always available, if needed, by phone. His patients love him! He spends a great deal of time with each patient explaining their problem and what he feels is the best course of action and what other alternatives may be available. Each patient is treated as if they were the only patient. He spends as much time as needed to make sure the patient has a better understanding of their condition and treatment plan.
