Message from Archbold President and CEO Darcy Craven

Late last week we began administering the COVID-19 vaccine to our frontline workers who have been at the forefront of this fight. We will continue to vaccinate other healthcare staff in the coming weeks as we receive more shipments from Pfizer and soon Moderna. While the vaccine is a hopeful and encouraging milestone in our fight against COVID-19, we continue to ask that everyone stay diligent in their efforts to combat the virus by wearing masks, practicing social distancing and using hand hygiene. Archbold Medical Center will continue to be there for our communities and we thank everyone for their support during these challenging times.

Visitation Policy Changes

As we continue to balance COVID-19-related precautions with the needs of our patients and their families, we are announcing the following updates to the visitation policies effective Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

  • At John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital, one (1) designated visitor will be allowed per day for any inpatient other than suspected or confirmed COVID-19 positive inpatients. The visitor is asked to use hand sanitizer when entering the room and must wear a mask at all times.
  • Policies for visitors in inpatient areas of Brooks County Hospital, Grady General Hospital and Mitchell County Hospital will be determined at each site based on the number of COVID-19 patients at the facility.
  • Patients with appointments at an Archbold Medical Group clinic may have one (1) person accompany them and the patient and visitor must wear a mask at all times.

The following visitation policies remain in effect at this time:

  • Patients at the hospital for a procedure (such as surgery, endoscopy procedure or cath lab procedure) may have one (1) visitor accompany them and wait in a waiting room during the procedure. The visitor will be issued an armband and must wear a mask at all times.
  • Patients at the hospital for an outpatient diagnostic procedure (radiology, lab, etc.) should enter the facility alone unless they require assistance.
  • Patients at the emergency department or urgent care may have one (1) designated visitor at bedside as appropriate, with two (2) allowed if the patient is a minor. No visitors will be allowed to wait in waiting areas.
  • Patients that are suspected or confirmed to be COVID-19 positive will not be allowed to have visitors.
  • No visitors will be allowed at our long-term care facilities.

Visitation Policy Changes

Effective Wednesday, July 15, we are revising our visitor policies for most of our Archbold facilities as we respond to recent increases in the number of COVID-19 cases in our community and at Archbold.

Patients at the emergency department or urgent care may have one designated visitor at bedside as appropriate, with 2 allowed if the patient is a minor. No visitors will be allowed to wait in waiting areas.

Patients at the hospital for an outpatient diagnostic procedure (radiology, lab, etc.) should enter the facility alone unless they require assistance.

We are discontinuing visitation at this time for patients admitted to the hospital as inpatients, except in end-of-life situations or where one visitor is required to assist with communication or special care needs.

The following policies remain in place at this time:

  • Patients that are suspected or confirmed to be COVID-19 positive will not be allowed to have visitors.
  • Patients at the hospital for a procedure (such as surgery, endoscopy procedure or cath lab procedure) may have one visitor accompany them and wait in a waiting room during the procedure. The visitor will be issued an armband.
  • No visitor will be allowed at our long-term care facilities.
  • No visitors will be allowed at outpatient clinics, including primary care clinics, unless the patient is a minor or requires assistance.

Visitor Policy Changes

Effective Tuesday, June 2, we are revising our visitor policies for most of our Archbold facilities.

Patients at the hospital for a procedure (such as surgery, endoscopy procedure or cath lab procedure) may have one visitor accompany them and wait in a waiting room during the procedure. This visitor will be issued an arm band.

Patients admitted to the hosptial may have one visitor at a time in the hospital. This visitor will also be issued an arm band. A new visitor for the same patient will not be issued an arm band until someone turns in their arm band. No more than 3 arm bands per 24 hour period will be issued for one patient, except in end-of-life situations or where one visitor is required to assist with communication or special care needs.

Patients at the emergency department or urgent care may have one designated visitor at bedside as appropriate. No visitors will be allowed to wait in waiting areas. Patients that are suspected or confirmed to be COVID-19 positive will not be allowed to have visitors.

The following policies remain in place at this time:

  • No visitors will be allowed for patients on isolation or that have been restricted from having visitation for medical reasons
  • No visitors will be allowed at our long-term care facilities
  • No visitors will be allowed at outpatient clinics, including primary care clinics
  • Patients who are at the end-of-life may have two visitors at at time

Beginning today, Archbold will shift to a weekly report of COVID-19 data. We believe that this new format offers the advantage of showing both a long-term view (shown in the cumulative data from the beginning of the pandemic in our communities) and a recent view (showing what has happened in the last week). As has always been the case with data reported by Archbold, this reflects data from testing and hospitalizations through Archbold. Data on the number of cases by County and other related data, is available from the Georgia Department of Public Health at dph.ga.gov. We hope you find this new format useful.
