Archbold Grady recently received the Barbara and John Ware Donate Life Hospital Award which recognizes hospitals committed to saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation.
The award, given by LifeLink of Georgia in partnership with the Georgia Hospital Association, is given to two hospitals annually within the LifeLink of Georgia service area.
Hospitals were nominated according to their demonstrated support of organ and tissue donation, and nominations included specific examples of initiatives, events or activities to increase the opportunity for organ and tissue donation within a clinical or community setting.
“Our team is honored to accept this award that is a testament to the selfless gift of our donors and the life-changing opportunity that has been given to recipients across our region,” said Crystal Wells, Archbold Grady Administrator.
Archbold Grady was selected for an organization wide commitment to organ donation which has produced lifesaving results. The organ donor and recipient wall at Archbold Grady recognizes those who have received an organ transplant and those that have gifted lifesaving organs after death or as a living donor.
Donate Life week is recognized annually at Archbold Grady and around the Archbold system. The week’s activities at Archbold Grady were organized by Nicki Keller-Josey, RRT, and Bridgett A Miller, RN.
“The efforts from these hospitals have directly affected organ and tissue donation throughout the state of Georgia, and more lives will be saved because of their outreach,” said Kim Kotteman, Director of Professional Programs and Transplant Center Relations, LifeLink of Georgia.
Across the country, more than 100,000 men, women and children are in need of a life-saving organ transplant. One organ donor can save up to eight lives.
