Archbold Grady Auxiliary was recently recognized for its work with the “Community of Conscience Award” at the Council on Volunteer Services Georgia Health Care (COVS/GHC) conference in Macon.
Archbold Grady was named the statewide winner among small hospitals. The group of volunteers was recognized for their work raising money, supporting local church food banks, and awarding a yearly scholarship in addition to everyday tasks at the hospital.
The award nomination specifically recognized the Auxiliary’s recent initiative to serve the residents of Archbold Living—Cairo, the new nursing home adjacent to Archbold Grady. Volunteers have assisted the activities director during bingo games, aerobics classes, service dog visits, and other activities that aid the residents' social, emotional, and physical well-being.
“It is a delight to see the smiles on our residents’ faces and hear families say they have not seen them interact with others this much in such a long time,” said Activities Director Summer Addison.
The Auxiliary is already planning its next project to serve the residents of Archbold Living – Cairo. The group hopes that the gift of a warm blanket for every resident will not only warm them physically but also warm their hearts during the holiday season.
“Archbold Grady volunteers go above and beyond for our hospital, nursing home, and all of the Grady County community,” said Shanna Lovin, director of volunteer services at Archbold Grady. “We are proud to see them recognized for the selfless work they do.”
COVS/GHC, founded in 1958, is an independent membership organization made up of individuals who volunteer at Georgia hospitals that seeks to help volunteers initiate new services designed to improve the care given to patients in Georgia hospitals and to help Council members better prepare themselves for leadership positions in volunteer services.
