Since Archbold Memorial opened in 1925, there has been an active group of interested area citizens who give the hospital their support and assistance.
The Archbold Auxiliary is a group of men, women and youth serving in many areas of the hospital. Throughout the year, volunteers support families in the surgery waiting area, greet visitors at the Information Desk, support departments throughout the hospital, and fulfill many other important roles. Volunteer opportunities exist for Archbold Auxiliary members at multiple Archbold locations throughout the region.
“The Archbold Auxiliary is an extension of care for Archbold’s patients and their families,” said Pat Jones, President of the Archbold Auxiliary. “We are another layer of support and encouragement for anyone who walks through our doors.”
In addition to supporting patients and visitors, the Archbold Auxiliary also raises funds for special projects, including the scholarship fund and special purchases for Archbold.
“In the past, we have raised money to help fund 3D breast mammography, the John B. and Elizabeth V. Wight Inpatient Hospice Center and more,” said Jones. “We strongly believe in contributing to the betterment of our facilities. Every year, we also award money to current students who are preparing for a career in healthcare.”
The Archbold Auxiliary is currently looking for new members and is hosting a Coffee and Christmas Cookies Meet and Greet for potential new members on Tuesday, December 3, from 9am to 11am in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial.
“This event is a way for potential Auxiliary members to come and talk to current members and learn more about our organization,” said Jones.
The meet and greet is a drop-in event where attendees can mingle with current Auxiliary members to learn more about the open volunteer positions. Coffee and Christmas cookies will be served.
