If you have not gotten your COVID-19 vaccine, it’s not too late! As the country begins to emerge on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that vaccinations are working.
An Associated Press analysis, with figures provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shows that nearly every COVID death in May was someone who had not been vaccinated. A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also indicates mRNA vaccines, like the COVID-19 vaccine, reduce the risk of infection by 91percent for fully vaccinated people.
“For a week in June, Archbold Medical Center saw zero inpatient cases for the first time since the onset of this pandemic in March 2020. Unfortunately, we once again have inpatient cases in our hospital. For Archbold and our community to continue to see a downward trend in cases, everyone must do their part by getting vaccinated against COVID-19,” said Darcy Craven, President, and CEO of Archbold Medical Center.
The CDC states the risk of community transmission in Thomas County is still high. The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 34 percent of the Thomas County population has been fully vaccinated.
To date, Archbold has administered 27,742 vaccines.
“While we are thankful for the response we have seen so far from the community regarding the vaccine, we still have a lot of work to do before we can say this pandemic is behind us,” remarked Craven. “The vaccine is our best shot at returning to our normal lives.”
If you haven’t received the vaccine, you can conveniently schedule an appointment at Archbold’s Corporate Care Center by calling 229.584.SHOT. Everyone 12 years and older is eligible to get a free COVID-19 vaccination.
