Medical Ethical Standards

Archbold has a long tradition of providing needed healthcare services to the community in an ethical and legal manner. It has always been understood that compliance with the law is key to attaining the Medical Center's mission of improving the health of the individuals in the communities it services, and that resources are not wasted defending allegations of wrongful conduct that could have been prevented. Accordingly, Archbold has developed and implemented a corporate compliance program to help ensure it carries out its operations in a legal and ethical manner.

The Medical Center is committed to compliance. It is the policy of the Medical Center that all employees, physicians, referral sources, and other business contacts demonstrate high ethical standards and comply with all federal and state laws which may apply to any aspect of the Medical Center's operations when conducting activities with, at, or concerning the Medical Center.

Quality of Care

Archbold is committed to the delivery of patient care without regard to age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression. Also, the Medical Center allows a patient’s designated emotional support person to be with the patient as long as there are no privacy, safety, or clinical issues. It is the Medical Center’s goal to provide superior service to its patients with skill, concern and compassion. Caregivers order tests, treatments, and other interventions based on individual patient needs regardless of how the Medical Center compensates or shares financial risk with leaders, managers, clinical staff, and licensed practitioners.

Patient Rights

Patients have a fundamental right to considerate care that safeguards their personal dignity and respects their cultural and spiritual values. Understanding and respecting these values guides the Medical Center in meeting its patients' care needs and preferences.

Archbold's goal is to improve patient outcomes and maintain high standards of medical ethics in the delivery of patient care by respecting each patient's rights in an ethical and professional manner.

Patient Education

It is the patient's right and the health care professional's responsibility to provide each patient with accurate and timely information regarding his or her health, diagnoses, and prognosis so that the patient may make informed decisions and choices regarding consent to care and treatment.

Patients have the right to review information contained in their medical record at any time while under care at an Archbold facility. Only patients or their designated decision makers may review this information and should be accompanied by a health care professional to ensure accurate interpretation of the information.

Credentials

Only appropriately licensed and credentialed individuals may provide medical care at Archbold facilities. Archbold does not knowingly employ any individual, or contract with any person or entity, who has been convicted of a criminal offense related to health care or who is listed by a federal agency as debarred, excluded, or otherwise ineligible for participation in federally funded health care programs.
