Archbold Begins COVID-19 Vaccinations for Educators

Teachers and staff across the state of Georgia can now roll up their sleeves to get their COVID-19 vaccine. Last week, Governor Brian Kemp expanded eligibility to include educators and teachers, along with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, and parents of children with complex medical conditions who are at high risk for COVID-19 complications beginning March 8th.

Archbold was able to coordinate efforts with schools in our community to be able to easily provide access to the vaccine in a way that best suited each schools’ needs. Archbold Memorial Hospital opened the doors to its COVID-19 vaccine clinic earlier than normal on Monday, March 8th to be able to provide eager teachers a vaccine before the start of the school day. Thomasville City Schools’ educators and staff opted to come to the vaccine clinic at the hospital while Thomas County Schools chose to utilize their school nurses to vaccinate their teachers and staff with pre-filled vaccinations provided by Archbold. Archbold was also able to set up a mobile vaccine clinic on Monday afternoon at the campus of Brookwood School.

“I am optimistic now that we are headed in a direction where we can return to normalcy and it’s a relief to know that is on the horizon,” said Brookwood School Biology Instructor, Adam Slaton. “I also want to say how thankful we are to Archbold for coming out to our campus and setting up this convenient vaccine clinic for us.”

Archbold was able to administer more than 400 vaccines to educators and staff on the first date of eligibility. If you are eligible to receive a vaccine you can make an appointment through Archbold’s COVID-19 Vaccine Call Center by calling 229.584.SHOT.
