The clinical laboratory at Mitchell County Hospital recently received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on results from a recent on-site examination.
A team of CAP inspectors examined the hospital’s laboratory records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. The four areas examined were personnel and safety, quality improvement, technical process and proficiency testing.
The CAP certification is a nationally recognized award, and Mitchell County Hospital joins a group of 7,000 facilities worldwide who have earned this laboratory accreditation.
“The accreditation is a reflection of the dedication of our highly qualified laboratory staff who go beyond what is expected regulatory compliance to positively impact patient care,” said Keicha Burroughs, MCH lab supervisor. “We are very proud of our lab staff that work hard to ensure our patients have high-quality care locally.”
