The clinical laboratory at Brooks County Hospital recently received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on results from a recent on-site examination.
A team of CAP inspectors examined the hospital’s laboratory records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. The four areas examined were personnel and safety, quality improvement, technical process and proficiency testing.
The CAP certification is a nationally recognized award, and Brooks County Hospital joins a group of 7,000 facilities worldwide who have earned this laboratory accreditation.
“Receiving accreditation from CAP means our lab staff has gone above and beyond to achieve the highest standards of excellence,” said Cristy Woodell, BCH lab manager. “Our specially trained laboratory personnel are dedicated to providing patients the very best care, and this designation demonstrates that focus.”
