Archbold Ranked Top Hospital in Southwest Georgia

Friday, December 20, 2013

For the fourth consecutive year, Georgia Trend Magazine has named Archbold Memorial Hospital a Top Georgia Hospital, and in 2013 Archbold was the highest ranked medium-sized hospital in Southwest Georgia.

The information used to compile the rankings was based on publicly reported data acquired from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), which administers the nation’s Medicare and Medicaid programs.

The data analyzed specifically relates to quality of care, patient satisfaction, mortality, readmission statistics and data on hospital acquired infections and conditions.

“We understand that patients place a lot of trust in our providers,” said Josh Moore, vice president of operational improvement at Archbold. “The highest priority of our physicians, nurses and staff is that our patients receive the right care at the right time.”

Archbold’s sustained focus on overall quality of care earned the hospital multiple recognitions in 2013.

Archbold Memorial Hospital earned accreditation by the Joint Commission in April, and in October the hospital was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by the national accrediting body for their exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for treatment related to heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The hospital was also named to the Georgia Hospital Association’s (GHA) Quality Honor Roll, a designation also based on clinical data provided by CMS. In addition, the hospital received a Leadership Award by VHA, a membership alliance of not-for-profit health care providers, for their successful implementation of Lean, an organization-wide initiative focused on driving out waste and improving operational processes within the organization.

“Quality is always a top priority at Archbold,” said Perry Mustian, Archbold president and CEO. “It’s rewarding to be named among the best for what we do, and it is truly a reflection of the sustained emphasis our entire health system places on high-quality, patient-focused care and patient safety.”
