Archbold Hosts Health Talk on Weight Loss Surgery
Sunday, January 27, 2013
Weight loss and improving overall health are among the top New Year’s resolutions every year. And every year, studies show that more than half Americans will go on some sort of diet to lose weight.
But unfortunately, many will break their resolution for multiple reasons—lack of nutrition and exercise knowledge, the absence of an essential, strong support system or just not knowing even how to begin are on the list.
General and bariatric surgeon John Cascone, MD, said Archbold’s Bariatric Weight Loss Program has proven to be an effective tool for patients, who despite multiple attempts to lose weight, have been unsuccessful.
The Archbold Bariatric Weight Loss Program offers individualized weight loss services, including a surgical component commonly referred to as Lap-Band® or bariatric surgery. The program is designed to help patients achieve their weight loss goals, improve their overall health and enhance their quality of life.
“We’ve seen dramatic results from patients,” said Cascone. “Not only do they feel better and have more energy, a number of them have completely come off their medications for diabetes, hypertension and acid reflux. Weight loss surgery has really transformed the lives of many in our community, since Archbold’s program began less than two years ago.”
As part of Archbold Memorial Hospital’s continuing Health Talk free community lecture series, general surgeon John J. Cascone MD, will present, “The Archbold Bariatric Weight Loss Program, featuring Lap-Band® Surgery” on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
Dr. Cascone will discuss obesity related health conditions and medical weight loss options available to help patients achieve their health goals—including Lap-Band surgery. Cascone will discuss weight loss surgery, the medical criteria essential for a patient to qualify for surgery and what patients can expect after the procedure.
Dr. Cascone is board certified in general surgery and performs Lap-Band surgery at Archbold Memorial Hospital. To learn more about weight loss options, including Lap-Band surgery, please attend this Health Talk. The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. and be held in the East Tower classrooms at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Dinner will be served.
