North Tower Now Open!

On Wednesday, May 12, 2010, community leaders, hospital administration, physicians and clinicians gathered to break ground on the new North Tower on Archbold Memorial Hospital’s campus. It’s a critical addition for advancing patient care, and it’s Archbold’s largest capital investment in patient care and safety in 85 years. A modern replacement for key hospital services, the building was designed to better serve patients by increasing operational space, improving patient care and services, reducing patient wait times throughout the Emergency Department and housing new medical technology.

The now open eight-story, 247,000 square-foot addition features a new, larger Emergency Department with five more exam rooms, four fast track rooms, and two trauma rooms.

The North Tower surgical suites gained more room to accommodate new equipment, such as imaging and monitoring devices, while providing the overall space required for optimal care. The new Intensive Care Unit is larger, gaining six more beds, from 12 to 18. In addition, three patient bed units with 32 beds per unit occupy the top three floors.
