If you or someone you love struggles with obesity, you are likely familiar with the countless weight loss programs and diets that are available. However, finding an option that provides lasting results can be difficult.
People living with morbid obesity often face life-threatening health conditions like an increased risk of heart disease and certain cancers. That’s why Archbold’s Bariatric Surgery and Weight Loss Management Program offers you a range of surgical and non-surgical weight-loss options.

Bariatric surgery is a term that describes several weight loss surgery options, typically involving surgically reducing the size of the stomach and/or the surgical rerouting of a patient’s small intestines to decrease the stomach’s ability to take in food. The surgical changes to your body will then limit the calories your body can absorb, resulting in long-term weight loss.
Archbold offers two bariatric weight loss surgery solutions using the latest innovations in laparoscopic surgery. This type of surgery is minimally invasive and typically results in reduced pain and faster recovery times.
With gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y), the stomach is divided at the top with a staple line, creating a small pouch. The small intestine is separated 40 inches from the stomach, and the lower end is connected to the pouch to act as a drainage system. The remaining stomach is then reconnected to the small intestine, forming a “Y” and carrying digestive juices from the stomach, liver, and pancreas. This procedure typically results in a 75% average of excess body weight loss.
With gastric sleeve resection or sleeve gastrectomy, the stomach is divided using a staple line, creating a small pouch (much like the initial gastric bypass surgery procedure). This creates a small stomach tube, and the remaining piece of the stomach is reversed. Because of this, the procedure is permanent (meaning the stomach cannot be reversed again). This procedure typically results in a 60% average of excess body weight loss.
