How Long Will My Loved One Receive Hospice Care?

Hospice is designated for patients with terminal illnesses. Traditionally, hospice is an option for people whose life expectancy is six months or less, and the type of care focuses mostly on pain and symptom relief, rather than curative measures.

Can Anyone Have Access to Hospice Care?

Yes, no one is refused hospice services on the basis of race, religion, age, sex, ethnic background, handicap condition, or financial resources. As long as a patient is in need of end-of-life services, anyone may refer a patient to hospice, including a family member or loved one. However, a physician's order is required to admit a patient into hospice care.
